BOWLING GREEN, OH – Despite splitting the six singles matches on Friday afternoon, the University at Buffalo women's tennis team fell to Bowling Green, 4-3. The match was UB's first MAC road contest.
The Falcons swept through doubles picking up the important point. They won 8-2 at third doubles and clinched the point with an 8-3 win at first doubles. UB's closest contest was at second doubles where Marta Stoyanova and Tamara Markovic fell to Maddy Eccleston and Katie Grubb, 8-5.
Bowling Green went up to 2-0 in the match as it won at fifth singles before Buffalo got on board with a win at first singles. Sophomore Tanvi Shah had little trouble defeating Eccleston, 6-0, 6-1. The Falcons then won the next two matches at second and fourth singles, which clinched the match for them. The Bulls won the final two matches as Markovic defeated Emily Reuland at third singles, 6-3, 6-3 and sophomore Anamaria Candanoza defeated Jessica Easdale at fifth singles, 7-5, 7-5.
The Bulls will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Western Michigan for a 1:00 pm meeting with the Broncos.
