Bulls Head To ITA Northeast Regional Championships
BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team heads to Yale University this weekend for the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships.
Representing the Bulls this year are sophomore transfer Tanvi Shah and sophomore Marta Stoyanova. Both players are entered into the main draw in both singles and doubles.
Doubles action will get under way first as Shah and Stoyanova have been given the 11 seed in the tournament. They will play their first match on Friday at 4:00 pm as they face Ryann Young and Nina Turudic from Cornell. The round of 32 will take place on Friday night, with the round of 16 getting underway Saturday morning.
In singles action, Shah was seeded 17th and has received a first-round bye. She will play in the round of 64 against the winner of Marina Bykovskaya from Binghamton and Abby Liu from Cornell.
Stoyanova will open on Saturday in the round of 128 as she is matched up against Stony Brook's Prerana Appineni. The winner of that match will face Penn's Augustina Sol Eskenazi, who received a first-round bye.
Play at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships will continue through the weekend and will conclude with singles and doubles finals on Tuesday.
