NEW HAVEN, CT – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team concluded play at the ITA Regionals on Monday as the Bulls lost in the quarterfinals on the doubles side and in the round of 16 in singles play. The tournament concludes the fall season for the Bulls.
UB's doubles team of Denise Harijanto and Diana Popescu reached Monday's quarterfinal round after defeating Vivian Laszloffy and Monika Mical of Boston University, 8-6. However, Harijanto and Popescu were unable to reach the semifinals for the second straight season as they fell on Monday morning to Vicky Brook and Stephanie Kent of Yale, 8-6.
In singles action, Harijanto won a pair of matches on Sunday to reach the round of 16. Harijanto defeated Maria Barouse of St. Bonaventure, 6-0, 6-0 and Monica Chow of Princeton, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 to reach Monday's action, but fell just short in her bid for the quarterfinals as she lost to Kent, 6-4, 7-5.
The Bulls will begin their spring season in January when they host St. John's on Jan. 23.
