BUFFALO, NY – Senior Denise Harijanto has been named MAC Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Harijanto won both of her singles and doubles matches this past Sunday against nationally-ranked Brown.
In doubles, Harijanto teamed up with Aleksandra Petrova as the Bulls defeated the 71st ranked doubles team in the nation, 8-5. Harijanto and Petrova, who are ranked regionally in the Northeast, have won nine of their first 10 matches, including a 7-1 mark in dual play. Harijanto is currently UB's all-time leader in doubles wins with an 84-26 doubles record.
In singles play, Harijanto defeated Casey Herzberg at first singles, 6-1, 6-4. Herzberg entered the match seventh in the Northeast Region in singles play. Harijanto, who has played some of the toughest opponents in the region, has an 11-12 record on the season and a 75-36 singles record for her career. Harijanto is just eight victories shy of UB's all-time mark.
Harijanto and the Bulls begin MAC play as they head to Akron for a meeting with the Zips. Akron was picked first in the MAC in the preseason poll. The match is set for 1:00 pm.
