HAMILTON, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team opened their weekend campaign at Colgate tonight, falling to the Red Raiders 2-0. The Bulls had 11 shots, six of which were on goal, but were unable to score in the ninety minute game. Senior goalkeeper Amy Coron (Farmington, NY/Victor) had five saves on the night.

The first half was scoreless for both teams, with the only Buffalo shot on goal coming from Jenifer Kern (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley)halfway through the first period. The Red Raiders notched eleven shots in the first half, four of which were on goal. Colgate scored both of their goals in the second half, the first coming at the 68:42 mark of the game. The Red Raiders scored an insurance goal just six minutes later to secure the win.

Despite outshooting the Red Raiders 9-8 in the second half, the Bulls could not get to the back of the net. Aubrey Stahl (Loveland,CO/Mountain View) had two shots on goal, while Lindsey Bailey (Burlington, Ontario/Assumption) and freshmen Taylor Thompson (Waterloo, Ontario/Sir John A. MacDonald) and Lindsey Schleyer (Rochester, NY/Eastridge) each added one for the Bulls.

Kristen Bailey (Burlington, Ontario) and Jennifer Mihok (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) anchored UB defense, allowing only six of Colgate's 19 shots to get to the net. Coron ended the game with five saves.

The Bulls finish their weekend road trip with a game against Long Island on Sunday, August 30. The game against the Blackbirds is set for 12 pm at LIU Field.
