Alumnae 8 Have a Strong Showing at the Head of the Charles RegattaOn an unseasonably warm day, nine rowing alumnae took part in the Head of the Charles Regatta. The boat was selected to participate in the regatta through a lottery in which the alumnae had entered. This race marked the first time that these alumnae had competed with this exact lineup and they could not have been happier with the outcome.
Where Are They Now: Alumnae RowersIt seems only fitting that on the same weekend of University at Buffalo’s homecoming, a group of alumnae will take part in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston. Nine alumnae formed a boat that was selected from a lottery for the October 20 race.
Buffalo Rowing Earns Boatload of Academic HonorsThe Colonial Athletic Association announced its 2012 Commissioner’s Academic Award for rowing, with 32 members of the Buffalo Bulls earning the award out of a roster of 57 student-athletes. As a team, the Bulls posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.24.
Cornelia Willis Finishes Fourth at World ChampionshipsAfter besting her opponents here in the United States, Cornelia Willis and her Women's Lightweight 4x team traveled halfway across the world for the chance of a lifetime. Willis rowed for GMS Rowing out of Connecticut, and competed alongside teammates Carolina Paini, Sarah Giancola and Samantha Brecht. The team finished fourth in the championship race with a time of 7:44.59, just missing out on a medal.
