SYRACUSE, NY – The University at Buffalo rowing team competed at the Syracuse Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Varsity "A" boat of Katherin Evely, Rosa Kemp, Susannah Green, Heide MacMahon-Manning and Sydney Gilchrist finished in fifth place with a time of 19:21.3. It was just 4/10 of a second behind Syracuse who finished in fourth and one second behind Cornell who finished in third.
The Varsity "B" boat of Alison Sheehan, Shannon David, Lindsay DiCosimo, Danielle Carlino and Ashley Hanhurst finished just seven seconds behind the "A" boat for a seventh place finish.
Head Coach Rudy Wieler was very pleased with the race of his Varsity Lightweight "A" boat. Consisting of Kara Buchheit, Gina Giammichele, Julia Hahn, Cornelia Willis and Barbara Prescott, the Lightweight "A" boat finished in eighth place.
The Varsity "C" boat of Suvita Viswanathan, Sarah Gallagher, Hannah Miller-Selzer, Kaitlyn Koscielniak and Rachel Cuthbert finished in ninth.
In the "B" Flight, the Bulls top finish was by the Varsity "E" boat which finished third with a time of 20:20. The boat, consisting of Kara Buchheit, Francisca Strange-Sepulveda, Megan Bayley, Rebecca Rayter and Lauren Benz, finished just three seconds out of second place behind Cornell.
The Bulls also competed in the Novice Eight race. Led by Brittany Davidson, UB finished in second place with a time of 19:29. Along with Davidson, the Novice Eight boat consisted of Brooke Waite, Samantha Palma, Ariel Regnier, Veronika Kwinecki, Erin McMullen, Gabrielle Ormond, Jessica Ashbaugh and Alyssa Porter.
The Bulls wrap up their fall season on Nov. 13 at the Foot of the Charles in Boston.
