HANOVER, NH – The University at Buffalo rowing team was back in action on Saturday afternoon just six days after its dramatic victory at the CAA Championships. UB defeated UMass in four races during the first round of double dual races with UMass, Cornell and Dartmouth.
UB defeated UMass in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Third Varsity Eight races to move into the finals where it would face the winners from the other double dual between Cornell and Dartmouth. The Second Varsity Eight boat of coxswainKate Evely, Rosa Kemp, Shannon David, Lindsay DiCosimo, Alexandra Condon, Dakota Smith, Danielle Carlino and Jacklyn Postulka won their opening race by 19 seconds, clocking in at 6:31.7. UB improved by 14 seconds in its afternoon race, but finished six and a half seconds behind Cornell.
Buffalo's Varsity Eight boat also defeated UMass as it clocked in at 6:26.6, winning its race by three seconds. In the finals, UB met up with nationally-ranked Dartmouth, finishing second by about 20 seconds. In the Varsity Four race, the Bulls finished ahead of UMass as they finished in 7:08.4. They went on to face Cornell in the finals, where they finished about 12 seconds behind the Big Red. The Bulls also won their Third Varsity Eight race against UMass before finishing a little over four seconds behind Cornell.
The Bulls will be back in action next weekend as they look to defend their title as back-to-back champions of the Dad Vail Regatta.
