2008-09: Finished with a 31-14 overall record at 197, rattled off seven-straight wins... second-team All-MAC, finishing second at the MAC Championships... NCAA qualifier, making his first appearance at the national championships... ranked second on the team in overall wins (30), dual-meet wins (15) and takedowns (48)... placed second at the NYS Intercollegiate Championships... named the MAC Wrestler of the Week (12/23)... placed sixth at the Body Bar Invitational... placed third at the UB Open.

2007-08:  Named Top Newcomer after a spectacular season as he went 30-13 and was 4-1 in MAC matches at 197... led Bulls in takedowns (41)... won the Mat Town Tournament title with a 3-0 mark... placed third (3-1) at the MAC Championships going to tiebreakers in three of his bouts... posted a nine-match win streak in early January.

2006-07: Redshirted... posted a 6-4 record... placed fifth at the UB Open at 197.

High School: Won the 2006 Massachusetts State Championship at 189 pounds for head coach Bob Anniballi at Natick High School...  two-time member of the Boston Globe’s All-Scholastics Team... finished second at the New England Championships... career record of 146-23.

Personal: Born May 12, 1987... son of Joe and Joan Hamel... has six brothers, Dan, Dave, Don, Mark, Paul and Steve and five sisters, Ann, Janet, Mary, Nancy and Sue... favorite movie is 300... chose to attend UB for its reputation in academics and sports... lifetime goal is to become an All-American... majoring in psychology.
