Mackenzie Loesing Named MAC East Player Of The Week

BUFFALO, NY - Freshman Mackenzie Loesing has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.  The honor is the first for Loesing and the first by a UB player this season.

Loesing helped Buffalo to its first 2-0 start in MAC play since 2007-08, averaging 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in victories over Northern Illinois and Ohio.  Loesing had 20 points in the victory over NIU, her second career 20-point game.  In the victory over the Bobcats, Loesing finished with 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in just 22 minutes of action.  Loesing had six steals in total for the week, with five of those leading to direct fast-break layups for the freshman.

Loesing, who has started in each of the last five games for the Bulls, is now averaging 9.4 points per game. The Norwood, OH native has really improved her game as of late, hitting double figures in points in four of her last five games.  She has hit 17 three-pointers so far on the year, second on the team.  In UB's latest victory over Ohio, Loesing joined fellow freshmen Rachael Gregory and Karin Moss in scoring 41 of the team's 73 points.

The Bulls continue Mid-American Conference play this Wednesday evening at Kent State.  Tip off is set 7:00 pm.
