Kourtney Brown Picks Up MAC Honors For Third Time This Season
BUFFALO, NY – Junior Kourtney Brown was named MAC East Player of the Week for the third time this season as she recorded 18.0 points and 14.0 rebounds as she led the Bulls to their first MAC win of the season. The three Player of the Week honors are tied for the most in the league.
Brown is currently on a streak of seven straight double-doubles, dating back to UB's game against American in late December. Against Bowling Green, Brown had 20 points and 13 rebounds, including 10 of those on the offensive end. It was Brown's second straight 20-point performance and also the second straight game where she recorded five blocks in a game. Brown followed the performance up with 16 points and 15 rebounds against Ohio as she recorded 12 of those boards on the defensive end. Defensively, Brown, who was honored as UB's newest 1,000-point scorer before the game, had another four blocked shots and offensively she added three assists.
Brown currently leads the Bulls in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots. Amongst the MAC leaders she is sixth in scoring (16.7), first in rebounding (11.8), second in field goal percentage (.554), first in blocked shots (2.00) and first in offensive rebounds (5.88). Brown's offensive rebounding total is 40 more than any other player in the conference.
Brown and the Bulls hit the road for their next two MAC games beginning tomorrow night at Kent State. Tipoff against the Golden Flashes is set for 7:00 pm.
