ATHENS, OH – Ohio's Jennifer Bushby hit a three as time expired on Saturday afternoon, breaking a 58-58 tie, as the Bobcats defeated the Bulls, 61-58, at the Convocation Center. UB was able to erase a 12-point second half deficit, but could not hold on for the win.

Ohio opened an early 8-2 lead and was up 14-11 when the Bulls went on a 12-4 run to take their largest lead of the game at 23-18 with 6:50 left in the opening half. Back-to-back Jenny Poff threes put the Bobcats back up by one as they went on an 11-0 run to lead by six. UB would respond by ending the half with five straight points fromBrittany Hedderson as they went in to the half down one.

The Bobcats opened the second half on an 18-7 run as they took their largest lead of the game on another three from Poff with 11:40 left in the half. Ohio would be up by 10 when six straight points fromKourtney Brown, cut the Ohio lead to just four. UB got even closer on a three from freshman Abby Dowd as it trailed by just one. UB was within two at 55-53 when both teams went the next two minutes without a point, forcing the Bulls to foul with 20 seconds left. UB was down four when Hedderson drove to the basket and got fouled, pulling the Bulls within one with 14 seconds left. The Bulls then fouled Poff and she went 1-of-2 from the free throw line to give the Bobcats a two-point lead with 14 seconds left. From there UB would tie it up for the first time in the half on a jumper from Jessica Fortman with four seconds left, but that gave the Bobcats too much time to draw up the game winning play. Bushby would take the pass and drive the length of the court, putting a shot up over the outstretched arms of Fortman as she drained it for the win.

The Bulls were led by Brown's game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds, her 17th double-double of the season and her 11th 20-point game on the year. Brown now has 319 rebounds on the year, the second most in school history. Brown also added an assist, two blocks and a steal. Hedderson finished with 10 points and four rebounds, while Fortman had seven points and two boards. Dowd had six points on the day on 2-for-2 shooting from behind the arc.
