Brittney Kuras Named MAC Women's Swimmer of the Week
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's Brittney Kuras has been named the Mid-American Conference's Women's Swimmer of the Week. The league announced its award from its Cleveland headquarters this morning.
Kuras, a sophomore who spent her freshman season at Rutgers, won three individual honors and also combined on a UB relay victory to lead the Bulls efforts against the Ohio Bobcats in UB's 163.5-131.5 loss on Saturday, November 5. Kuras opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.37 and followed with a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 51.62. She finished with a victory in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:07.21. The Canandaigua, NY native also combined with Marissa Murphy, Taylor Steffl and Mallory Morrell as the Bulls took the 200-yard freestyle relay, the meet's final race, in a season-best mark of 1:34.92.
"We are excited for Brittney to receive this award from the MAC," said UB head coach Andy Bashor, "She has done an excellent job racing over the past couple of weeks and deserves this honor.".
The Bulls (1-2, 0-2 MAC) host Colgate on Saturday, November 12 at Alumni Arena Natatorium. The UB men will also be racing against the Raiders.
