BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo swimmer Phil Aronica became the fourth Bull from the men's swimming and diving team to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Trials. Aronica became the second UB teammate to qualify at this past weekend's U.S. Nationals in Palo Alto, CA.
Aronica qualified in the 100m backstroke in a time of 57.53. He qualified for the trials as a member of the 400m Medley Relay that he swam with fellow teammates Josh Meints, Matt Schwippert and Matt Hogan.
Aronica, who just finished his freshman season with the Bulls, joins Hogan, Schwippert and Matt Dugan who have all already qualified for the Olympic Trials.
In his first season with the Bulls Aronica set school records in the 100 backstroke as well as a member of relay-setting teams in the 200 Medley Relay, 400 Medley Relay and the 800 Freestyle Relay.
