Meili Carpenter Named MAC Scholar-Ahlete of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior Meili Carpenter was named the Mid-American Conference's Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the week of November 16-22, after an outstanding performance at the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Arizona.


Carpenter, a graduate student in Science Education with a 3.77 GPA, won the one-meter title at the Arizona Wildcat Diving Invitational, scoring a final-round total of 301.20 for six dives. Carpenter was the only diver to total more than 300 points in the final as she finished ahead of divers from Arizona State, BYU, Northern Arizona, Stanford and New Mexico. Carpenter also placed third in the three-meter championship final with a six-dive score of 289.00.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.

The Bulls will be back in action this weekend at the Zippy Invitational. Competition is set to begin Friday, December 4 in Akron, Ohio.
