AKRON, OH – The University at Buffalo men's and women's swimming and diving team wrapped up day two of the Zippy Invite tonight with the women's team moving up two places to sit in third place, while the men's team holds steady in second place.

Simmons started the night off right with a first-place
finish, earning a Zippy Invite and Ocasek Natatorium record in a
time 1:44.92. Alie
Schirmers took second place in the 400 IM in a season-best
time 4:31.73. Palma picked up third-place points in the 100
butterfly in a season-best time 56.61. The 200 freestyle was
highlighted by a fourth-place finish from Jordan
Deren (1:52.82) and a sixth-place finish from Simmons
(1:53.78). Marecki stole the show in the 100 breaststroke, taking
first place with a season-best time of 1:04.07 and Ballard wrapped
up the women's individual events with an eighth-place finish
in the 100 backstroke (59.28). The Bulls closed out the night with
a fifth-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, finishing in a
time of 7:46.74.
The men opened the night with a third-place spot in the 200 medley relay as the team of Matt Schwippert, Josh Meints, Cory Zorsch andChad Miller finished in a time of 1:34.03. In the men's 400 IM, Zach Ruske placed fifth (4:10.73), with teammate Connor Vander Zalmfinishing close behind in sixth place (4:11.53). Zorsch took away an eighth-place finish in the 100 butterfly, finishing in a season-best time 51.51, while Simon Proudfoot won the consolation heat of the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:43.94. Meints won the consolation heat of the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 59.37, as well. Schwippert took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.35, followed closely by Andrew Tamchyna, who finished third in a time of 51.62.The men's team finished out the night with a third-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay, capturing a time of 6:56.41.
