OLEAN, NY – The University at Buffalo men's and women's swimming and diving team picked up another road win with a sweep of St. Bonaventure tonight at the Reilly Center Pool, as the women's team defeated the Bonnies 125.5-93.5, while the men's team won by a score of 131-110. Senior diver Meili Carpenter broke her own school record on the one-meter board, finishing with a score of 344.10. She remains undefeated on the one-meter board so far this season.

Vander Zalm and Matt
Schwippert were double winners for Buffalo. Vander Zalm
took care of the distance events, winning the 1,000 freestyle in a
time of 9:57.29, as well as the 500 freestyle, where he finished in
a time of 4:44.03. Schwippert picked up first-place points in the
200 IM (1:56.02), as well as the 200 backstroke (1:52.03). Chris
Berloth touched out the St. Bonaventure competition in the
200 butterfly for a first-place finish as well, finishing in a time
of 1:56.13.Alisa
Koopman picked up the first individual win of the night
with a first-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle, finishing in a
time of 10:46.01.Caroline
Simmons and Brynn
Marecki also picked up first-place points early in the
meet, with Simmons winning the 200 freestyle (1:56.39), and Marecki
taking the 200 IM (2:15.69). Senior Sam
Palma tied St. Bonaventure's Allison Smith for first
place in the 50 freestyle, finishing with a time of 24.98. Other
first-place finishes came from Jordan
Derenin the 200 butterfly (2:10.52), Jessie
Koltz in the 100 freestyle (53.44) and Alie
Schirmers in the 500 freestyle (5:10.10).
The women's team will be back in the pool tomorrow night, as they host MAC rival Bowling Green. The meet is set for 5:00 pm at UB's Alumni Arena Natatorium.
