Bulls Fall At Akron
AKRON, OH - The University at Buffalo softball team fell at Akron on Saturday afternoon, 4-1, in their second to last game of the season. Three different Bulls recorded two-hit games in the loss.
The Zips got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after two scoreless innings from Buffalo starter Tori Speckman. The Zips broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth with a three-run home run as they took a 4-0 lead.
The Bulls got on the board in the top of the sixth as sophomore Holly Luciano led off the inning with single to center field and proceeded to steal second. She came in to score on a single up the middle by freshman Alexis Curtiss. However, the Bulls would get no closer in the game.
Luciano, Curtiss and sophomore Tori Pettine each had two-hit games, recording six of Buffalo's seven hits on the day. Junior Caitlin Dekker recorded the other hit. Speckman picked up the loss as she allowed four runs on seven hits, while striking out four batters. She did not walk a single Akron batter all day.
The Bulls and Zips conclude the regular season tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm.
