Bulls Open MAC Play This Weekend In Northwest Ohio

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team heads to Northwest Ohio for it's first four Mid-American Conference games this weekend as it will play a doubleheader on Friday at Toledo and then play two single games this weekend at Bowling Green.

UB enters MAC play with a 5-19 record, but has not played a game since March 20, due to weather in the Northeast.  UB got a boost off the bench in it last weekend from freshman Kelli Gleiser, who leads the team in hitting at .429.  Sophomore Jessica Griffin leads the squad with 11 runs batted in and 16 hits. On the mound, junior Holly Johnson has recorded four of UB's five wins this season.

Toledo enters MAC play at 4-19 after dropping a doubleheader to Cleveland State on Wednesday.  Courtney McCarthy leads the way with a .340 batting average, while Lindsey Tobias is hitting .309 with 13 runs batted in.  The Rockets have a 6.61 team ERA as three pitchers have all seen action.

Bowling Green enters the weekend at 4-13, but just missed out on defeating No. 3 Michigan, 4-2 on Wednesday.  The Falcons will open play by facing Kent State in a doubleheader on Friday before UB comes into town this weekend.  Hannah Fulk is hitting .347 for Bowling Green, while Andrea Arney is hitting at a .302 mark.  The Falcon pitching staff is led by Zada Lines, who has three of the four wins and a 3.08 ERA.

The Bulls will have their home opener next weekend as they welcome Northern Illinois to Nan Harvey Field on April 8.
