FT. MYERS, FL – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped a pair of games at the FGSU Softball Complex on Wednesday. The Bulls lost to Purdue, 6-1, and then to Florida Gulf Coast, 4-0.
In the opener, UB and Purdue were scoreless for two innings, before the Boilermakers scored two runs in the third and three in the fourth. Purdue picked up another run in the sixth before UB responded with one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Holly Johnson picked up the loss for the Bulls as she pitched 3.2 innings, allowing 10 hits and five runs.
In the second game, Florida Gulf Coast scored three runs in the bottom of the first and added another in the fourth inning, holding the Bulls to just two hits in the game. Johnson started the second game as well as she went 3.0 innings, allowing four runs. Tori Speckman came on in relief as both players finished with two strikeouts in the game.
The Bulls will begin play at the South Florida-The Game Tournament on Friday with games against Texas A&M and South Florida. UB will play five games over the weekend.
