University at Buffalo senior Vusa Hove has been named the Mid-American Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year and a first-team All-MAC honoree. Additionally, Damien David was named to the All-MAC Second Team and Pablo Alvarez was selected as the league’s Newcomer of the Year. The league announced the awards from its Cleveland headquarters this morning.

The 2011 Buffalo men’s tennis team rose from an early season slump to claim the Mid-American Conference’s regular season title, earning the top seed en route to a second place finish. Despite the fact that five of the six teams vying for the regular season crown, the Bulls took it home with a 4-1 record (11-10 overall) after starting the season 1-7.
