Men’s Singles Players Split Matches at ITA Regional Tournament
ITHACA, NY – The University at Buffalo's remaining men's tennis entrants split their matches on Saturday in the second round of the ITA Northeast Regional Tournament at Cornell University.
Freshman Damien David scored a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Yale's Zach Krumholz in the round of 64 in his first match of the tournament after earning an opening round bye. The win advances David to a third round contest against fifth-seeded Vasko Mladenov of St. John's. Sunday's start time is slated for 9:30 am.
Senior Wojciech Starakiewicz was defeated by Cameron Ghorbani of Dartmouth in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 7-6. Starakiewicz was able to force a third set by winning the second set after fighting off a pair of match points earlier in the set.
