Men's Tennis Steamrolls Opponents at Lehigh Invite
BETHLEHEM, PA – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team rolled to 17 victories out of 20 matches as play concluded at the Lehigh Fall Invitational. There was no team scoring and the tournament was played using a hidden duals format as the Bulls faced of with Monmouth, Lafayette, Niagara and the host Lehigh.
UB swept singles and doubles matches against Lehigh and took five of six singles matches against Lafayette. Vusa Hove, Travis Zappia, Kristof Custers and Mitch Zenaty went 2-0 in singles play, all winning in straight sets, while Alex Kalinin won both his matches in third-set supertiebreakers. Jason Shkodnik made his collegiate debut for the Bulls with a 1-1 singles mark.
In doubles play, the Bulls took the two matches played against Lehigh while winning two of three over Monmouth and Niagara.
Several Bulls are expected to compete in the ITA Regionals starting Oct. 14 in New Haven, CT.
