AKRON, OH – The University at Buffalo men's soccer team saw its season come to an end Friday evening as the Bulls were eliminated in the Mid-American Conference Tournament's semifinal round by top-seeded and second-ranked Akron, 3-1.
The lone goal for the Bulls (7-10-1) was scored in the waning minutes of the match as senior Sam Craven tallied his first marker of the season. Craven scored unassisted at the 88:35 mark of the match on a shot from four yards outside of the net. Craven's goal came just 14 seconds after the Zips (17-1-1) scored their third goal of the match.
Akron jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half as Michael Nanchoff scored from 23 yards out following a free kick. The Zips added two second half goals to increase their lead to 3-0 before the Craven goal.
UB was outshot 16-4 in the match as goalkeeper Nick Fetterman made one save in his final appearance of the season for the Bulls. Mike Unwin and Craven were credited with shots on goal while Jordan Brouk and Rich Wilson also got off one shot each for the Bulls.
