Will Regan Wins MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week Award

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's basketball player Will Regan was named the Mid-American Conference's Male Scholar Athlete of the Week. The conference announced its weekly awards from its Cleveland headquarters this afternoon.

Regan, a sophomore accounting major with a 3.625 grade point average, averaged 21.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in UB's three games in the MAC Tournament. Regan scored a career-high 36 points, the eighth most by any MAC player in the tournament's history and the most ever by a UB player, in the Bulls' victory over Ball State. In the three games, Regan also shot 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from three-point range and averaged 38 minutes of playing time.

This is the second time this season that Regan has earned the league's weekly award. He also picked up the honor on December 14, 2012.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
