UB Recruit Xavier Ford Named PARADE Magazine All-American
BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's basketball signee Xavier Ford has been named to the PARADE Magazine All-America Team. The Colorado Springs, CO native is a third team selection.
A 6-8 forward, Ford averaged 27.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game this past season. He led the Harrison Panthers to a 20-5 record.
Ford is the first UB men's basketball recruit to be named a PARADE All-American. First published in 1957, PARADE lists four teams of 10 players that include recruits who have signed with such schools as Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky and Texas. Ford was the only Mid-American Conference recruit selected.
"I was really excited when I heard the news that Xavier was named a PARADE All-American," head coach Reggie Witherspoon said. "To be recognized alongside the best high school players from across the country is a great accomplishment."
Ford will join a veteran UB squad that returns 12 letterwinners, including four starters, to a team that went 20-14 this past season.
The All-America team will officially be announced in this Sunday's issue of PARADE Magazine.
