BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team will travel to Athens, OH to play the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday afternoon in a game televised nationally on ESPNU.
The Bulls are in search of their third-straight conference victory following home wins over Akron and Kent State. Buffalo is coming off one of its finest all-around efforts of the season in a 79-54 win over the Golden Flashes on Wednesday night.
It will be a matchup of the league's top two scoring teams as Ohio leads the MAC (74.2) and Buffalo ranks second (73.9) in scoring.
Byron Mulkey scored a career-high 27 points, including five three-pointers, against Kent State. The senior point guard has been red hot from distance in recent games, making 10 of his 13 three-point attempts in the last two games.
The Bulls defensive effort has been led by Mitchell Watt. The junior forward had a career-high eight blocked shots against Kent State and helps the Bulls hold opponents to only 40.7 percent shooting from the field.
Ohio is 8-10 overall and 1-3 in MAC play. The Bobcats are led by D.J. Cooper who is averaging 18.7 points and 7.9 assists per game.
Ohio leads the all-time series, 21-7. The Bulls are in search of just their second-ever win at the Convocation Center.
ESPNU will carry the game live beginning at 3:00 pm as well as WECK 1230-AM in Buffalo.
