Boyer Named to Academic All-District Team

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo senior point guard John Boyer has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District men's basketball team. Boyer is one of five players selected from the district and is now eligible to earn Academic All-America honors.

 

Boyer is having a breakout season in his first year as the Bulls' starting point guard. He is averaging 7.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. He leads the Mid-American Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.91) and ranks second in the league in assists.

 

The Hollidaysburg, PA native is a physical therapy major with a 3.5 grade point average. He is in his first year of graduate school as part of UB's six-year doctoral program in physical therapy.

 

Boyer is the first UB player to earn Academic All-District honors since Turner Battle in 2005. The Academic All-America Team will be announced on February 24.
