Quinn and Kelly Reunite for Gridiron Conversation
It was a night of reminiscing, laughter and stories as Buffalo football head coach Jeff Quinn and Notre Dame football head coach Brian Kelly were reunited for the Gridiron Conversation at UB’s Center for the Arts on Wednesday night. A crowd of around 800 gathered to listen to the pair who coached together for 21 years before taking their current jobs.

Two UB football standouts will aim to continue their careers at the highest level next season, as Willie Moseley and Gokhan Ozkan signed free agent deals with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Jets, respectively, of the National Football League. Colby Way Earns 1958 Lambert Cup Football Team Endowed Scholarship
Colby Way, a defensive lineman who will be a senior on next season’s University at Buffalo football team, was awarded the 1958 Lambert Cup Football Team Endowed Scholarship at Saturday’s Champions Breakfast. Members of the 1958 football team created this scholarship, and many former players have contributed to the endowment fund.

UB Football to Host Bowling Green in Black Friday Clash at the Ralph
University at Buffalo Director of Athletics Danny White has announced that UB’s final home football game of the 2013 season will be moved to Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, NY - home of the NFL’s Buffalo Bills. The Bulls will host Bowling Green in what will be billed as the “Black Friday Clash at the Ralph” on November 29. It will be the first college football game played at Ralph Wilson Stadium since 1979 when Syracuse played Miami (FL).

For the second straight semester, the University at Buffalo football team set a new high for the team’s Grade Point Average. The team had a combined 2.8 GPA in the Fall semester, surpassing its previous record of 2.6 set during the Spring 2012 semester.

The University at Buffalo Division of Athletics finished an exceptional semester in the classroom in the Fall of 2012, post a school-best 3.039 GPA. This marked the first time that the Athletic Department has surpassed a 3.0 GPA in back-to-back semesters.

Facing a stout Bowling Green defense, the University at Buffalo football team dropped its season finale to the Falcons, 21-7, at Columbus Crew Stadium on Friday afternoon. The MAC’s top defense held the Bulls to a season-low 197 yards of total offense, including just 29 yards rushing.

As a freshman in 2010, Branden Oliver was a seldom thought about running back in the Mid-American Conference who rushed for just 336 yards and didn’t score a touchdown on the season. That all changed in the 2011, when the Miami, FL native rewrote the UB record books.

Dempsey’s Estate Gift to Support 1958 Lambert Cup Team Football Endowed Scholarship
The University at Buffalo Division of Athletics has announced today it has received a significant estate gift in support of its football program. Former UB football player, John (Jack, Bear) Dempsey committed his estate to the UB Division of Athletics to be used towards growing the 1958 Lambert Cup Team Football Endowed Scholarship. Established in 2009, this significant gift will now raise the overall scholarship to over $500,000. In recognition of this gift, Dempsey will be honored as a member of the Bulls Legacy Program.

The 2011 crop of linebackers was predicted by many to lead the team’s defense, and lead they did, with three of the team’s top four tacklers coming from the linebacking corps.
