BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo sophomore linebacker Khalil Mack has been named to the College Football Performance Awards Watch List for the 2011 Linebacker Trophy. He is one of 40 linebackers named to the list.
Mack is coming off a stellar freshman campaign. The Fort Pierce, FL native recorded team highs in both sacks (with 4.5) and tackles for losses (14.5). Even when he couldn't take down the ball carrier, he left his mark, hitting the quarterback eight times. He also excelled in coverage, with a team-high ten pass break ups. His 68 total tackles ranked third on the team.
Also representing the Mid-American Conference on the list are Evan Harris and Jerrell Wedge (Miami) and Dex Jones (Western Michigan).
The purpose of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
