BUFFALO, NY – This past weekend marked the end of what has been a busy high school football all-star game season for 16 future Buffalo Bulls.
The class of 2010 played in all-star games in eight different states (New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, Ohio and Michigan) and two countries (U.S. and Canada) after a trio of future Bulls competed in the Big 33 (Pennsylvania vs. Ohio) and the Michigan East-West game this past weekend.
This weekend saw Ohio recruit Lee Skinner (linebacker, Fairborn) and Pennsylvania recruit Colby Way (defensive end, State College) represent their states in one of the nation's longest running and most prestigious all-star games in the annual Big 33 game in Hershey, PA. Offensive tackle recruit Jake Silas (Portland, MI) also played in the annual East-West game in Michigan this past weekend as well.
The first weekend in June saw three Western New York natives and future Bulls, Jasen Carlson (offensive line, Southwestern HS), Desmond Howard (offensive line, St. Francis HS) and Adam Redden (wide receiver/St. Francis HS) compete in the Upstate/Downstate Game at the Carrier Dome on June 6th. In addition, recruits John Molloy (kicker, Harrison, NY) and Kristjan Sokoli (defensive end, Bloomfield, NJ) competed in the New Jersey/Northeast Classic at Rutgers Stadium.
Unlike many of the Bulls' Northern recruits, including Canada's Jeff Veinotte, who played in the Ottawa Athletes in Action East-West Game back in April, future UB players from South of the Mason-Dixon line did most of their all-star competition last winter.
Wide receiver recruit Aaron Walters played in South Carolina's Oasis All Star Shrine Classic in November, while another receving prospect, Courtney Lester (Everglades HS) played in the Broward County All-Star game in Fort Lauderdale, FL on December 10.
Safety prospect Okoye Houston competed in the prestigious South Carolina North-South All-Star Game back on December 12, while another receiving prospect, Georgia's Cordero Dixon competed in the Gwinnett All-Star Game on December 19. Houston led his North team to a victory, including returning a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown.
Quarterback recruit Rudy Johnson played in the Maryland Crab Bowl, leading his team to victory, at Towson State back on December 21. Rounding out the future Bulls were safety prospect Whitney Sherry and cornerback Keith Takeh, both from Chaminade-Madonna HS, who played in the Florida Public vs. Private school game (featuring the best players from Dade and Broward Counties) on January 9.
