Bulls Announce 2010 Football Schedule
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo football program will face a challenging 2010 schedule, including trips to Big East and Big XII programs while playing six teams that advanced to bowl games last season. The Bulls will have a minimum of two national television appearances as well, with two late-season Mid-American Conference clashes scheduled for ESPNU in head coach Jeff Quinn's first season.
"I am excited by the outstanding test that our 2010 schedule will present to our football program," said Quinn. "We have an extremely challenging non-conference schedule that will have us fully prepared to compete for a MAC Championship in October and November. We are excited to have six home games and I can't wait to be on the sidelines as the head coach of the Buffalo Bulls on September 2nd when Rhode Island comes to town."
The game against Rhode Island will mark not only Quinn's first game, but the first battle beween the Rams and Bulls since 1959, when UB caputred a 41-6 win at home. The Bulls then enter a stretch where they will play four of their next five games away from UB Stadium.
Included in that stretch are games at Baylor (Sept. 11) of the Big XII, Connecticut (Sept. 25) of the Big East and Buffalo's first two MAC games of the season at Bowling Green (Oct. 2) and Northern Illinois (Oct. 16). The lone home game in that stretch comes on Saturday, Sept. 18 when Buffalo hosts the Golden Knights of UCF in a rematch of their game in Orlando last season. The game at Connecticut is a rematch of the 2009 International Bowl played at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
Buffalo hosts two MAC East rivals to end the month of October, with Temple coming to town on October 23 and Miami (OH) on October 30. The Bulls' first national television game of the season comes the following Thursday (Nov. 4) when UB travels to Ohio University. The following Friday (Nov. 12) marks the rematch of the 2008 MAC Championship game won by the Bulls when Ball State rolls in for an ESPNU game.
Buffalo closes the 2010 schedule with a home game versus Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Nov. 20 and a trip to Akron on Friday, Nov. 26, in a game that will appear on either ESPNU or ESPN360.com.
