Alex Baldock Named to MAC All Tournament Team
BUFFALO, NY - Fresh off a week in which he helped lead the Buffalo baseball team to a pair of wins in the Mid-American Conference tournament, junior Alex Baldock was named one of just ten players on the All Tournament team.
The UB first baseman hit .375 (6-16) with seven runs batted in and a walk. He played the hero in the team's first ever tournament win over Ohio on Thursday, hitting a solo home run and driving in the walk off game-winning run on a double in the bottom of the tenth inning to help eliminate the Bobcats. He followed that up with an even bigger game the next morning to help send Buffalo to the semifinal round of the tournament.
Against Western Michigan, he had an RBI single in the first inning and drove in two more runs on a two-out, 3-2 single. He capped the game with a two-run double in the top of the ninth inning, a hit which proved to be crucial after the Broncos scored six runs in the bottom of the inning. He added another hit in the semis against Kent State.
The Bulls finished the 2012 season with a 20-36 record, highlighted by its first ever trip to the conference's postseason tournament. Baldock finished the season with a .284 batting average, 12 doubles and 25 RBI in what was an injury-shortened season after he missed more than a month earlier in the season thanks to a broken wrist.
