UB Coaching Staff to Host Two Prospect Camps
The University at Buffalo baseball coaching staff will hold a pair of Sunday prospect camps for 2012, 2013 and 2014 graduates, as well as junior college athletes. The camps will be held Sept. 11 and Oct. 2 at the North Amherst Recreation Center.

Tom Murphy Named First-Team All-Region
University at Buffalo baseball sophomore Tom Murphy has been named to the NCAA Mideast Region First Team, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced this past weekend. Murphy, the 2011 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, is the first UB player named to the first team and just the second player honored since reinstatement in 2000.

Alex Baldock Named to the 2011 All-MAC Academic Team
Sophomore first baseman Alex Baldock was named to the 2011 All-Academic team for the Mid-American Conference Monday afternoon. The honor was the first of his career, and he became the second player to make the academic team under the helm of head coach Ron Torgalski. A total of 23 student-athletes were named to the team.

Following one of the best seasons in program history, sophomore catcher Tom Murphy was named the Mid American Conference's Player of the Year, the first Bull to ever earn the award. Murphy won the league's batting title and etched his name into the Buffalo record books in numerous categories.

Bryce's Bomb Leads Buffalo to Season-Ending Split
It was a fitting end for Buffalo's senior class Saturday afternoon, as senior slugger Eric Bryce hit a walk-off solo home run in the 12 to beat Bowling Green in game one, 3-2, helping support senior Josh Edwards, who threw 7.1 quality innings in the game one win. The Falcons won game two 11-3.

Mired early by defensive miscues and poor weather, the Buffalo baseball team dug an early hole in the first of two games Tuesday afternoon against Canisius. A late rally salvaged a game one win, 5-4, while the Golden Griffins took game two 8-2. With the series moved to Demske Sports Complex due to the rain, the Bulls were the home team for both games.

After returning from its first road trip in the month of May, the Buffalo Bulls baseball team will end the 2011 season at home with five games. Tuesday will see a rain date makeup with Canisius followed by three games against MAC East rival Bowling Green starting on Thursday. This will be the final week of games for five seniors, who will be honored at the season finale.

With both teams enjoying the benefit of heavy wind gusts, Northern Illinois put it to good use, taking both games of the Saturday afternoon doubleheader, 9-4 and 12-4. The games are being held at St. Bonaventure University but is still Buffalo's first series as the host this season. Matt Pollock hit three home runs over the two games but the team as a whole could not capitalize on its chances.

The Buffalo Bulls offense met little resistance Sunday in its doubleheader against New Mexico State, but multiple errors and dominant hitting from the Aggies dropped the team in both afternoon games, 23-11 in game one and 19-13 in game two. Eric Flynn Heads Down Under to Play Pro Ball
Former Bulls outfielder Eric Flynn will head halfway around the world to continue his baseball career, signing with the Beenleigh Hawks of the Greater Brisbane Baseball League. Geltz to Join Angels Arizona Fall League Squad
Former Bulls pitcher Steve Geltz's minor league season with the Los Angeles of Anaheim Angels' Double A affiliate in Arkansas might be over, but his season is not. Now finished with his third season in the minor leagues, Geltz has been named to the Angels' Arizona Fall League team, the Mesa Solar Sox. Only seven players from the organization were given a spot on the team.
