Brad Agustin Signs Contract With Normal CornBelters

BUFFALO, NY – Former UB infielder Brad Agustin became the second UB baseball player to sign a professional contract this year as the record-breaking second baseman signed with the Normal CornBelters of the Frontier League.

Upon finishing his career as a Bull, the senior shattered four all-time career records, including most games played (204), most at bats (793), most hits (241) and most runs scored (168). He also broke two all-time records since the program's reinstatement in 2000 for most starts (190) and most assists (600). This season, he also tied former Bull and MLB draftee Joe Mihalics for most career total bases (355), in addition to setting the school single-season record for most runs scored (59).

This season, Agustin posted career season-highs in batting average (.343), at bats (201), hits (69), runs (59), doubles (17), home runs (8), RBIs (39), total bases (112), slugging percentage (.544), stolen bases (18) and assists (159).

Following the MLB Draft, UB pitcher Chaz Mye signed a free agent contract with the Oakland Athletics and the Bulls now have five guys currently playing professional baseball. In 2007, Mike Folli was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and is currently playing in Springfield, its Double-A affiliate. In 2008, Steve Geltz signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and he is currently pitching for their advanced Single-A team, Rancho Cucamonga. Last season, Zach Anderson was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays and he is currently with the Auburn Doubledays, the Class A Short-Season team.

Agustin's performance in his final season, earned him first-team MAC honors, becoming the second Bull to be named to the All-MAC First Team as Mihalics was the first ever UB player to be a first-team selection in 2007. He also became the first UB player named to the 2010 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Mideast Region Team.
