Kelly Cruttenden is the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, and began working in the UB Athletics Compliance Office in February, 2000 as a Recruiting Coordinator. Since 2000, she has held various titles within the Compliance Office including Compliance Assistant, Compliance Director and Assistant Athletic Director.
In her role at UB, Kelly is responsible for the daily oversight of the Compliance Office. This includes monitoring recruiting, eligibility, playing and practice seasons, personnel, awards and benefits, amateurism, and all other aspects of NCAA, Mid-American Conference and UB rules as they apply to UB’s 500+ student-athletes, 20 teams and coaches. Kelly is also the Athletic liaison with UB Campus Living and UB International and Domestic Admissions. She is currently serving on the NCAA 2-4 Waiver Committee and has recently been appointed the SUNY Athletic Oversight Committee. Kelly is also an instructor with the Canisius College Master of Sport Administration program.
Prior to joining the University at Buffalo, Kelly spent one year as the Compliance Fellow with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in Edison, NJ. There, she handled the MAAC website, assisted with championships, issued NCAA rule interpretations and reviewed medical hardship waivers.
Kelly graduated summa cum laude from Niagara University with a degree in Communications and a minor in Political Science. She has a master’s degree from Canisius College in Sport Administration and has completed the Sports Management Institute Executive Program (SMI).
Cruttenden was a four year starter for both the softball and volleyball teams at Niagara University and is a member of the Niagara University Sports Hall of Fame. Originally from Farmington, NY, Kelly attended Victor High School and was a three sport athlete there. She was inducted into the Victor Sports Hall of Fame in the fall of 2011.
