Bulls Extend Radio Deal With WECK/WLVL

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo Athletics Department announced today that is has extended its radio rights contract with Culver Communications – WECK-1230 (AM) in Cheektowaga and WLVL-1340 (AM) – in Lockport to broadcast Bulls' football and men's and women's basketball through the 2011-12 season.

Bulls' football and men's basketball games will air on WECK for the third straight season, while all women's basketball games will air on WLVL for the sixth consecutive year.

“We have greatly enjoyed our partnership with Culver Communications and are very appreciative of their efforts to promote our athletic department,” said Warde Manuel, UB's Director of Athletics. “Since our original agreement in 2008, I believe both parties have seen significant growth as it relates to their standing in Western New York. We love Culver's commitment to promoting great things happening in Western New York and we believe our athletic department fits that vision.”

Since moving to WECK in the summer of 2008, the Bulls have claimed their first Mid-American Conference football championship, appeared in their first bowl game and witnessed the men's basketball team claim its first MAC regular season title, appear in its second Division I post-season tournament as well as compete in their second MAC Championship game.

In addition, WECK will host half-hour shows with both head football coach Jeff Quinn and men's basketball coach Reggie Witherspoon. Coach Quinn will appear on Thursday nights at 6:30 pm with host Brad Riter, who will continue to host the UB football pre- and post-game shows.The games will continue to be streamed live for free on both UB's website (www.buffalobulls.com) as well as both WECK and WLVL's home sites. Paul Peck will return for his third consecutive season to call UB football games, while Josh Whetzel will again be the voice of men's basketball. Nick Mendola, new to the WECK on-air staff, will handle play-by-play for women's basketball for the second straight year.
