Wheldon and the UB Offensive Line Named Athletes of the Week

October 8, 2012

Ainsley Wheldon (Waterloo, Ontario/Bluevale CI) of the women's soccer team returned to the starting lineup to anchor a UB defense that allowed just one goal in weekend play. Wheldon stopped four shots in her return against Kent State and came up with three saves in a shutout win at Ohio. The shutout of the Bobcats was her third of the season and 14th in her three-year career, tying for second most in program history.

UB football's starting offensive line consisting of Andre Davis (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale), Jasen Carlson (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern), Trevor Sales (LaPorte, IN/LaPorte), Graham Whinery (Arlington, TX/Martin) and Gokhan Ozkan (Staten Island, NY/Bishop Ford) helped the Bulls to 313 rushing yards against an Ohio defense that had allowed just 94 yards per game on the ground. The 313 rushing yards is the second highest total in the Division I-A era as the Bulls had two rushers each surpass 100 yards, the first time since 2008.
