McCrea and Kuras Named Athletes of the Week

Javon McCrea (Newark, NY/Newark) of the men's basketball team averaged 29 points, 10.5 rebounds, six blocks and 2.5 steals in a pair of games. At Kent State, McCrea nearly posted the school's first ever triple-double when he finished with 32 points, 15 rebounds and a career-best eight blocked shots. Against Akron, he had 26 points, six rebounds, four blocks and three steals, handing Akron its first conference loss and snapping the Zips 19-game winning streak.

Brittney Kuras (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) of the women's swimming and diving team defended her league titles in all three of her individual races and was part of UB's three winning relays at the MAC Championships and earning Outstanding Swimmer honors for the second straight year. She won the 200-yard individual medley breaking the MAC, MAC meet, UB and pool records. She won the 200-yard freestyle and finished with a victory in the 100-yard freestyle with new MAC meet and pool records.
