Woods and Velez Named Athletes Of The Week

Stephanie Velez (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) of the women's soccer team posted the go-ahead goal in UB's 2-0 victory at Colgate. Velez came into the game late in the first half and scored in the 38th minute as she took a pass from Megan Abman and put it into the left corner for the first goal of the contest. It was the redshirt sophomore's first goal since her stellar freshman season in 2009, as she returned from missing all of last season with an ankle injury

Nate Woods (Manchester, England/Louisburg JC) of the men's soccer team scored his second game-winning goal of the season as the Bulls defeated Detroit, 1-0, in double overtime. Woods picked up the winning marker by corraling a rebounded shot by Maksym Kowal and putting the ball into the top right corner of the net in the 107th minute. The senior forward leads the Bulls with two goals, both game-winners, this season after posting one goal in six matches in 2010.
