Anna Holmes (Freedom, NY/Pioneer) of the women's track and field team won her first Mid-American Conference title with a record-setting performance in the 400-meter hurdles. Holmes, who set the UB record of 59.65 in Friday’s prelims, needed another record effort in the championship final as she took 1.27 seconds off the day-old record for a 58.38 clocking and held off Eastern Michigan’s Asia Rawls by a hundredth of a second. |

Rob Golabek (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) of the men's track and field won his third consecutive Mid-American Conference title in the men's shot put. At the league championships, Golabek threw 61-4.75 (18.71m) on his fourth of six attempts, the first of the championship round, and won the competition by nearly five feet. |

Jason Kanzler (Penfield, NY/Penfield) of the baseball team batted .733 (11-for-15) in UB's three games against Eastern Michigan. The junior outfielder set a program record for hits in a game when he went 6-for-6 in an 18-3 win on Friday, driving in two runs. On Saturday, he went 3-for-5 with three RBI, including a home run. Kanzler ended the weekend with two hits and an RBI on Sunday. He also stole four bases on five attempts. |
