McCrea and O'Brien Named Athletes Of The Week

Becky O'Brien (Cumberland, ME/Greely) of the women's track and field team won the women's shot put competition at the SPIRE Midwest Open with a school record throw. O'Brien broke her own record with a toss of 57-5.75 (17.52m), bettering her old mark by more than 16 inches, ranking third nationally. The throw also set facility record and automatically qualified O'Brien for the NCAA National Championships.

Javon McCrea (Newark, NY/Newark) of the men's basketball team averaged 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in UB's wins over Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois. McCrea scored a double-double in Saturday's road victory at NIU with 14 points and 12 rebounds in only 19 minutes of action. He also averaged 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals for the week.
