The UB Rowing program partnered to implement We Can Row – Buffalo, a wellness and rehabilitation program designed for breast cancer and other female cancer survivors. Our rowing coaches and student-athletes developed a training program for the participants that is geared to promote a healthier lifestyle by building physical strength, endurance, and to empower women who are in different phases of survivorship through participation in a sweep rowing. The program gives breast and other cancer survivors a sense of body control, help them rebuild physical strength and spirit towards a renew self-image while developing a sense of camaraderie. The program has 25 participants, with training modules in the fall, spring and early summer. The We Can Row – Buffalo Program was highlighted on the Bulls Eye television show, in the Buffalo News, the UB Reporter and the UB Today.
